Unicorn Projects has provided services for people with learning disabilities and associated mental health problems since 1997. This includes a Residential Care Home and a Day Centre in Central Croydon.

A member of the British Institute for Learning Disabilities (BILD), Unicorn Projects support service users to exercise choice, integrate into the community and develop living skills. Unicorn Projects also has Social Services Level 2 accreditation with Exor who implement a rigorous programme of conformity that verifies our service on a wide range of compliance issues including health and safety, finance, quality and the environment.

Staff are trained to high standard and are now expected to have a Diploma Level 2 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care prior to starting with us in a care role. Our staff will then receive training as recommended by Skills for Care.

Unicorn Projects provides extensive and appropriate social activities and has a Day Centre to help support this. At Action Zone our service users from various care homes can meet and take part in a variety of activities. This can range from doing arts and crafts within the Centre to going shopping at Surrey Street Market or visits to London. Our emphasis of care at both our sites is upon managing challenging behaviour, encouraging social inclusion, building relationships and developing everyday living skills. It is through these achievements that we feel our service users have an opportunity to fulfill their full potential and experience a high quality of life.

Unicorn Projects also has a sister company Nightlngale Holistic Services Limited which started 2009. ‘Nightingale’ is a Supported Living Service based in Caterham, Surrey that mainly caters for young adults with autism.
